| The problem with using
elastic urethane belting in the food industry is that a broken
belt that falls on a food conveyor cannot be detected with metal
detectors, so it can get packaged with the food. Our new Metal
Detectable belts, made from round, food grade urethane, solve
this problem. Although our Super
Strong Welds should virtually eliminate the possibility
of a belt breaking at the weld, if for some reason our metal
detectable belts should break or be cut, they will be easily
detected by metal detectors. In fact, in tests the detector
was set off by our belt well before it entered the detector
tunnel. |

Belt detected by metal detectors
Warning:
Urethane alone cannot be detected by metal detectors. Tiny embedded
copper wires make these belts detectable. If these belts abrade
and urethane dust falls on the product, the dust will not be detected. Therefore,
you should build safeguards that prevent abrasion, or that prevent
abraded dust from falling on your product. In addition,
since we do not have an industrial metal detector (cost $10,000+),
customer's QC department must test each belt, when received, with
their metal detector to ensure that copper
wires were properly installed, and to ensure that the sensitivity of their metal
detectors are turned up enough to detect the copper in the belts.
